Information

Heritage Beach is a small stretch of beach, just 0.87 acre in size on Grand Cayman, the largest of the Cayman Islands. It has been preserved from development by being placed in the hands of the National Trust for the Cayman Islands. It is found at East End, Grand Cayman, near Cottage Point.

The late 20th Century saw the beaches of the Cayman Islands transformed: once they were regarded as an infertile strip of wasteland smashed by ocean storms and suitable only for burial grounds, but when tourists arrived, the beachfront lands were suddenly valuable property for development. It is now among some of the most expensive real estate in the world

In 1990 therefore, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams of the former Cayman Heritage Trust donated a small area of beach to the Trust to be held in perpetuity for the people of the Cayman Islands. It was named therefore 'Heritage Beach'.

Along the beach

Heritage Beach is presently home to a mixture of native coastal plants and some introduced ornamentals. In the sea, the shallow waters are rich in Turtle Grass.

The beach is not suited for swimming, but does present a fine view across the Frank Sound lagoon.
