The Heatherhope Burn from seen from Blackbrough Hill

The Heatherhope Burn is a mountain stream cutting through the Cheviot Hills in Roxburghshire. It rises in a series of streams running off the ridge which forms the county boundary with Northumberland and runs northwards through a deeply incised valley, before falling into the Kale Water.

The name of the burn is a description of its valley: hope (from the Old English hopa) being a Northumbrian word for a valley (commonplace in the Cheviots).

The Heatherhope Valley is one of the few noteworthy valleys cutting into the Cheviot Hills.
