Harrowby is a hamlet in Kesteven, the south-western part of Lincolnshire, just by the eastern edge of Kesteven's main town, Grantham. Harrowby was once a hamlet in two parts: Harrowby Within (now part of Grantham), and Harrowby Without (which so far is narrowly outside the townscape, and which includes Harrowby Hall).
Heritage
Harrowby is listed in the 1086 Domesday Book as Herigerbi, with 18 households.[1]
Church
From 1931 a wooden church dedicated to the Ascension served the village. A more permanent building was designed by Lawrence Bond, erected in 1954 and opened in 1956 by the Bishop of Lincoln.[2]
In the early 1960s an octagonal church building was erected, and the former church became the parish hall.[3]
