Harrow on the Hill is a town in Middlesex.
Byron once sat at Harrow on the Hill looking out across the fields to Windsor and Eton, but one could not do that now. Harrow is a mixed place. It contains every sort of townscape. North of the station Harrow is much like any other conurbation town. However, by Harrow School is the original town, secluded by itself.
Harrow's name comes from the Old English hearge ("temple" or "high place"), but any old heathen temple on the hill crest has long since been replaced by a Christian church.
