Hare and Dunhog Mosses

The Hare Moss and Dunhog Moss are neighbouring wetland habitats in Selkirkshire, which together are enrolled as a nature reserve ("Hare and Dunhog Mosses"), managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
Hare Moss is a partially wooded area of woodland on the east side of the A7 trunk road two miles south of the county town, Selkirk, which encompasses a lake, and this lake is a generous area of open water that attracts wildfowl throughout the year. A hide is provided in the reserve for birdwatchers.
Dunhog Moss lies just to the east of Hare Moss, reached by crossing the strip of farmland which divides them. It is an example if an upland basin fen. A number of dragonfly and damselfly species can be found on this part of the reserve.
