Hanham is a suburb of Bristol, in the south-east of the city. The population of the parish taken at the 2011 census was 6,128.
History
Tom Cribb, the world champion bare-knuckle boxer, was born in Hanham.[1]
Hanham was the first place in Britain to trial a new "eco-towns".[2] Built on the former Hanham Hall Hospital site,[3] the new village was designed to serve as a blueprint for five proposed eco-towns intended provide up to 100,000 zero-carbon dwellings across the country.[4][5][6]
