Goathill is a hamlet and parish in south-east Somerset adjacent to the border with Dorset. It is situated a couple of miles east of the town of Sherborne in the latter county. The parish forms part of the hundred of Horethorne[1] and diocese of Bath and Wells.[2] To the north is the village of Milborne Port.
Goathill, together with the three village parishes of Poyntington, Castleton (Dorset) and Oborne (Dorset), form a group of parishes that share a grouped parish council called Yeohead & Castleton Parish Council.[3]
St Peter's church and a mill are the major buildings. Nearby is Goathill Quarry, a place a special scientific interest to geologists as it allows the Fullers Earth layers to be established in relation to the limestone.[4]
