Gillygooly is a small village and townland west of Omagh in Tyrone. The 2001 Census recorded a population of 72 people.
The earliest reference to the townland of Gillygooly is as 'Killagauland' from aroud 1655, which may be fromn the Gaelic Coill na Gualann: 'Wood of the hill-shoulder'.[1]
