Foundation Ice Stream runs down to the west of the Patuxent Range and Neptune Range amongst the Pensacola Mountains, in Queen Elizabeth Land in the British Antarctic Territory.
The stream flows northwards into the Ronne Ice Shelf. It was seen from the air by Grupo Aeronaval UT 78 on the first Argentine flight to the South Pole in January 1962. It was photographed from the air by the United States Navy in 1964 and named 'Foundation Ice Stream' after the US National Science Foundation, a prime supporter of the United States Antarctic Research Programme.
