Summary

Description

Today Mason takes us to a place beloved of the 1916 leader, Padraig Pearse! Oughterard or Uachtar Ard in the Connemara region of County Galway. He captures an image of a man pearl fishing - with the duet from the "Pearl Fishers" by Bizet ringing in our ears. A lovely scene but how did he know he was fishing for pearls and is the house still standing? For the full effect, consider listening to this while looking at the shot...

With thanks in particular to [/photos/20727502@N00/ guliolopez] and [/photos/91549360@N03/ O Mac] it seems very likely that the house is still standing (though extended since). There's a strong suggestion that this house is just east and downstream of the main road bridge across the Owenriff River in Oughterard. Though perhaps not 100% confirmed, it seems a strong enough contender for us to map this image to the suggested location....
