Summary

Description
English: Lane to the coast - At East Aberthaw, an arched bridge spans the adjacent Vale of Glamorgan Railway line leading to a lane affording access only for vehicular traffic to a property below here or for Network Rail maintenance vehicles. It also affords pedestrian access to the now-listed Aberthaw Pebble Limeworks seen beyond to the right, the Wales Heritage Coastal Path and Pleasant Harbour nature area and beach. Across the Bristol Channel, to the right, lies Watchet and Minehead on the coast of Somerset with Devon and the Quantocks to the west.
This bridge photographed is a reinforced concrete structured annex to the original arched bridge over the up & down main line. Teed from the main road between Rhoose and East Aberthaw, this annex originally spanned a 2-track lead to three reception sidings for rail coal traffic to Aberthaw power station(s) by 1958 but since 1981 only one track passes below. Situated at 4miles-68chains from Barry Junction to the east, Network Rail lists this as "Miner's Bridge". No further power station coal traffic was to pass under here after the last delivery in August 2019.
