Description

The bear pit at Cardigan Road, Headingley, Leeds just south of Regency Court.

A notice reads: "Built in 1840 as part of the Leeds Zoological and Botanical Gardens. Bears were exhibited in the circular pit [behind the steel bars] and viewed from the turrets. Acquired and restored in 1966 by the Leeds Civic Trust."
