Ernesto Pass is a mountain pass between Morsa Bay and Right Whale Bay in the north-west part of South Georgia.
The name was originally that of a glacier, named "Don Ernesto Glacier" after the whale-catcher Don Ernesto, a ship built in 1910 and owned by the Grytviken whaling concern: the name of the glacier appears on an Admiralty chart in 1931. However in 1955-6 the South Georgia Survey reported that the glacier had shrunk so as to be only vestigial and no longer reached the sea, leaving its dry bed as a mountain pass which they reported was needing a name. The form 'Ernesto Pass' was recommended by the Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1957.
