Earl's Seat is the highest hill of the Campsie Fells, at the western end of the range, in the heart of Stirlingshire.
The mountain is a bare-topped hill at the end of a ridge fringed with crags: below the crags its northern face is a swooping escarpment dropping towards the gentler valley of the Endrick Water, to the west the slope drops away as dramatically to Strath Blane while to the south of the summit a dip slope turns eventually into the sudden drop of the Campsies to the Hillfoots Villages.
The summit at 1,897 feet is marked by a trig point.
The hill is listed as a 'Marilyn' a hill with a relative height of over 150 m).
Ascent
Two main ways of climbing the Earl's Seat are by going past Dumgoyne from the Glengoyne Distillery or going up the Fin Glen from Clachan of Campsie.
