Dechmont is a small village in West Lothian, located near Uphall.
It has an approximate population of 989 people. Bangour Village Hospital is here, just to the west of Dechmont, which accounts for a few more passing residents.
The village has a small infant/primary school providing learning for pre-school through to primary three pupils. In 2012 the school roll was just thirteen.
The village came to the attention of the fringe press in 1979 when a man claimed an alien encounter in the nearby Dechmont Woods.[1]
