Crosskirk Bay

Crosskirk Bay is a small bay indenting the north coast of Caithness, and thus the north coast of mainland Great Britain, opening into the northern Atlantic Ocean. Thurso lies to the east and Dounreay to the east.

The Forss Water, flowing down from the Flow Country, enters the sea in Crosskirk Bay.

The hamlet of Crosskirk is above the eastern shore of the bay. The western shore was once overlooked by an ancient broch, Crosskirk Broch, but this has crumbled into the sea; its remains were tumbled into the sea at the mouth of the bay for safety reasons in the 1970s.
