Ascent

Crocnafarragh is a hill remote from roads and isolated in the wild landscape, and it is reckoned best climbed as part of a greater circuit involving other hills such as Grogan More and Crockglass.

For a direct ascent the closest convenient location is off road at B846167, followed by a walk around the north side of Lough Caol. Past the wee Mullincrick Lough, it is a shortish equally short walk up to the summit, which is marked with s cairn. The South East Top is half an hour's walk to the southeast, and again it has a small summit cairn; otherwise this top is too flat to present an obvious summit point.
