Countisbury is a hamlet by the north coast of Devon, to be found on Exmoor, roughly two miles east of Lynmouth along the A39. It has a church, St John's, and a pub, the Blue Ball Inn.[1] The National Trust owns the other buildings.
The parish church is St John the Evangelist.[2]
Scholars now believe the Iron Age promontory fort of Wind Hill on Countisbury Hill was the site of the Battle of Cynuit in 878.[3][4]
