Clara is a parish in County Kilkenny with a scatter of hamlets and farmsteads with no single centre, and amongst which live some one thousand inhabitants. It is found three miles from Kilkenny.

About the parish
In the townland of Churchclara stand the ruins of the old parish church.
A modern Roman Catholic church, St Colman's, stands at the centre of the parish, within Rathgarvan townland.
Clara Castle is a five-storey tower house built in the fifteenth century by the Shortall family.[2]
