The Chatos Islands lie to the south-south-west of Cape Adriasola, the south-west point of Adelaide Island in the British Antarctic Territory.
The islands were roughly charted by the Argentine Antarctic Expedition of 1952-53, and named Islotes Chátos, which means 'flat islets'. They were recharted by a Royal Navy Hydrographic Survey Unit with John Biscoe in 1963. They have appeared as the 'Plain Islands', but the standard name is 'Chatos Islands'.
