Cape Zevgari
Cape Zevgari, also known as İkizburun in Turkish, lies within the Western Sovereign Base Area of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, forming one of the most southerly points of Cyprus. The cape is the south-western point of the Akrotiri Peninsula which is the most southerly part of the island, and forms the southern end of Episkopi Bay.
The cape lies within the boundaries of the Royal Air Force station known as RAF Akrotiri.
One building stands on the cape, namely the old Princess Mary Hospital, which for many years served as the main hospital for British Forces Cyprus. The hospital was formerly an RAF hospital, but following the establishment of the Defence Medical Services organisation, it became a tri-service establishment under the authority of the Permanent Joint Headquarters at Northwood, Middlesex. The hospital closed on 1 November 2012.[1]
