Cairnie, also written Cairney is a village and parish in western Aberdeenshire adjacent to the border with Banffshire. It is situated on the A96 road from Keith to Huntly, four miles north-west of the latter. It borders six other parishes, four of which are in Banffshire: Botriphnie to the west, Keith to the north-west, Grange to the north and Rothiemay to the north-east, Huntly in Aberdeenshire to the south and the Aberdeemshire portion of the parish of Glass to the south. The ancient parish additionally extends some 1,188 acres into Banffshire.
It has a primary school, Cairney Primary School.
