Livingston Island
Summit: 2,460 feet 62°37’0"S, 60°12’9"W

Mount Bowles is an ice-covered mountain 2,460 feet high at the summit of its ridge, in the central part of eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, part of the British Antarctic Territory. It stands to the north of Mount Friesland, to which it is linked by a high bealach.

The mountain was roughly charted by Captain Foster of HMS Chanticleer in 1829 and named after Captain (later Rear-Admiral) W. Bowles (after whom Cape Bowles is named): Foster had surveyed La Plata with Bowles from HMS Creole in 1819. The mountain was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition, 1956-57.

Mount Bowles was first climbed by Àlex Simón, Vicente Castro, David Hita and a friend from the Spanish station 'Juan Carlos' on 5 January 2003.[1]
