Blackawton is a village in the south of Devon; a place of 647 souls according to the 2001 census. The village is about six miles west of Dartmouth.
The village runs its own village shop and post office, all run by volunteers.
There is one pub in Blackawton, The George Inn, and one restaurant, The Normandy Arms.

Parish church
The parish church, St Michael's, is of the 15th-century, with a Norman font and a well-preserved rood screen.
Bees
In 2010 a study of bumblebee behaviour by pupils from Blackawton Primary School was accepted for publication in the Royal Society's Biology Letters journal.[1][2]
Events
Blackawton has hosted an annual worm charming competition since 1980.
