Bethesda is a biblical name, taken from the Pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem where the sick gathered to be healed, For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. At Bethesda Jesus healed a sick man without waiting for the angel (John Ch 5).
