The width of Beinn a' Chrulaiste is about three miles, and there is also a summit on the western side of the mountain called 'Stob Beinn a' Chrulaiste', 2,096 feet.

The name Beinn a' Chrùlaiste is Gaelic, meaning "rocky hill",

Ascent

Fairly short hillwalk over mostly heathery ground. Any paths are intermittent and the route is boggy in places, especially descent route given to Kingshouse which can be avoided by instead retracing ones steps. In order to get to Beinn a' Chrulaiste, the walker must go to Altnafeadh, in which there are roadside laybys or two near car parks if he has driven from the A82. If walking on the Old Military Road, the walker can take the path parallel to A82, from Kingshouse; or if coming from the north, through Kinlochleven and the Devil's Staircase.
