Ashen is a village and parish in the Hinckford hundred of Essex, adjacent to the border with Suffolk. It is located about five miles east-south-east of Haverhill and is 22 miles north of the county town of Chelmsford. The village lies to the south of the River Stour, which here forms the county border with Suffolk.
According to the 2011 census, the civil parish had a population of 323.[1]
