Ample Rock

Ample Rock is a prominent rock lying in Ample Bay, to the east of Markham Point on the north coast of South Georgia.

The rock is an important feature for the safe navigation into the Bay of Isles. It is named in the Antarctic Pilot (NP9) as Ample Rock, 'a prominent feature seen against Grace Glacier when approaching (Bay of Isles) from seaward'. It was named in association with Ample Bay, which was named descriptively by Murphy in 1912-13.
