Alston is a little hamlet in westernmost Dorset, in the neck of a spur of the county thrusting between Somerset to the north-east and Devon to the south-west.
This hamlet consists of three farms and surrounding cottages.
Alston is a mile south of Chardstock, also in Dorset, and just under a mile north-east of Churchill, the latter village just across a little brook which marks the border of Devon.
