Wootton is a hamlet in western Herefordshire, immediately north of Ameley. A village similarly named though unrelatedly apparently, Woonley, is a mile and half to the east
A string of villages along the lane, each separated by barely a mile of farmland, are from north to south and in increasing size: Wootton, Almeley Wootton, and Almeley.
