Cashel, County TipperaryCashel is a famous town in County Tipperary, though a small place, with a population, including environs, of just four thousand souls. It is situated in the Golden Vale, an area of rolling pastureland spread across the province of Munster. The Rock of Cashel at the edge of the town was once the seat of the Kings of Munster and later of the Archbishops of Cashel: the ruin of the mediæval cathedral stands on the rock. Its successor, one of six cathedrals of the Church of Ireland's Diocese of Cashel and Ossory, stands within the town. (Read more) |
