Pitt Islands
(British Antarctic Territory)

Location
Location: 65°29’48"S, 65°26’51"W
Data

Slumkey Island is one of the south-eastern the Pitt Islands, a group within the Biscoe Islands group in the British Antarctic Territory. It is is the largest island of the group lying east of Tupman Island.

The island was charted and named following air photography by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition in 1956.

As with other names amongst the Pitt Islands, this island is named after character in the Pickwick Papers; after the Honourable Samuel Slumkey, a candidate in the Eatanswill election. A neighbouring isle, Fizkin Island, is named for the other candidate.
