Across Porth Cressa

Porth Cressa is a small bay on the coast of St Mary's, the largest of the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, and which has a popular beach.

The Bay is in the west of the island, on the south side of the narrow neck of land on which the island’s capital, Hugh Town, stands. Porthcressa Beach is a sandy beach running along this south side of the isthmus. The bay separates the main part of the island from the Garrison, the bulbous peninsula extending from the west side of St Mary’s beyond Hugh Town.

Porth Cressa opens into St Mary’s Sound, the passage between St Mary’s and St Agnes to the west.
