The name Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich is Gaelic, and means "Mountain of the great stone of Fannich".

Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich rises uop in a great bulk just to the north of the main Fannichs ridge. It offers good views of the neighbouring mountains of the Fannichs and also over to the Beinn Dearg range.
