The Barff Peninsula is a broad, mountainous peninsula with several freshwater lakes on the east side of Cumberland East Bay and north of the of Sörling Valley
This land was named from association with Barff Point, the headland at the tip of the peninsula which marks the opening of Cumberland Bay. The name 'Barff' was in local use for many years before its publication.
Amongst the lakes of the Barff Peninsula are the Echo Lake (whose waters spill out to create the Echo Falls), the Desolata Lakes, Lurcock Lake and Reindeer Lake.
