The Hobbins is a new village in Shropshire, atop the hill to the east of Bridgnorth, developed out of what had been RAF Bridgnorth. The River Severn and Bridgnorth's Low Town are a mile to the west.
RAF Bridgnorth opened in 1939 and closed in 1963. It was never an operational airfield, but was an important basic training camp. Much of the land is now Stanmore Country Park
Two housing estates were built bordering the park; ‘The Hobbins’ were the married airmen’s quarters, whilst 'Russell Close' was the married officer’s quarters.[1]
