Data

Reid Island is a small island which lies off the south coast of Coronation Island, to the south-west of Olivine Point, amongst the South Orkney Islands in the British Antarctic Territory.

The island was roughly charted as a group of islands by Sørlle in 1912-13: he named it Reidholmen after his daughter Reidunn (later Mrs Holtedahl; her husband's name is found in Holtedahl Bay). The name is in association with two further islands off this coast named after Sørlle's daughters Gerd ([[Gerd Island) and Mari (Mariholm).

The isle was recharted as one island by Discovery Investigations in 1933 and named 'Reid Island'. The island was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Signy in 1948-49. The island was further surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Signy in 1956-58.
