Palmer Bay lies on the west side of Crown Head in the north-east of Coronation Island amongst the South Orkney Islands in the British Antarctic Territory.

The bay was roughly charted by Powell in December 1821 and named Palmer's Bay after Captain Nathaniel Palmer (from whom the Palmer Archipelago and Palmer Land are named), of the sloop Dove, with whom Powell was on a joint cruise in the 1821-22 season. The bay was re-charted by Discovery Investigations in 1933. The bay was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Signy in 1956-58.
