Welcome Pass

Welcome Pass is a slow-filled mountain pass through the Dufek Massif, in the Pensacola Mountains of Queen Elizabeth Land in the British Antarctic Territory. It runs through the mountains in a north-east to south-west direction at about 2,625 feet above sea level, between between Cairn Ridge and Czamanske Ridge, to the north of the latter, and leading into Tranquillity Valley.

The pass was photographed from the air by the United States Navy in 1964; following field work by the United States Geological Survey from 1965, so named in association with the valley and because, in the 1976-77 season, a note of welcome from a the United States Geological Survey party to a Soviet party was left in a helicopter cache, established by the Soviet Antarctic Expediation led by Garrik Grikurov in the previous season.
