Behrendt Mountains

Behrendt Mountains are a group of mountains rising to about 5,085 feet at their highest and standing to the north-west of Cape Zumberge, along the Orville Coast of southern Palmer Land, in the British Antarctic Territory.

These peaks were surveyed on the United States Geological Survey Antarctic Peninsula Traverse, 1961-62, and photographed from the air by the United States Navy, 1965-67. They are named after John Charles Behrendt (b.1932), the United States Geological Survey seismologist, 'Ellsworth Station', 1957; Leader of the 1961-62 traverse, and of investigations in Marie Byrd Land, 1963-64, and in the Pensacola Mountains, 1965-66.
