Nately Scures is a small village in the north of Hampshire. Its nearest large village is Hook, which is nearly two miles north-east from the village. In 1931 the parish had a population of 288.
The first element in the name of the village is the Old English neat leag, meaning 'ox meadow', while the 'Scures' may be from the Old English scua meaning 'shade'. The name appears as Netlescures in 1413.[1]
Parish church
St Swithun's was built of flint and rubble around 1175. It is considered to be the best largely unspoilt example of a Norman single-cell apsidal church in Britain.
