Whale Skerries
The Whale Skerries lie in Lewthwaite Strait off the west point of Powell Island, in the central part of the South Orkney Islands of the British Antarctic Territory.
These rocks were charted by Sørlle in 1912-13, and named Hvalskjaer, meaning 'Whale rock', later corrected to the plural form Hvalskjærene ('the Whale Rocks'). They were recharted by Discovery Investigations in 1933. Later the name 'Whale Skerries' was adopted.
