South Bay lies between Cape Kemp and Py Point on the south coast of Doumer Island in the Palmer Archipelago of the British Antarctic Territory..

The bay was charted by the British Graham Land Expedition in February 1935 and so named from its position on the island.

A station for summer occupation was established on the SE shore of the bay by the Chilean Navy, 18 February 1962, and called "Yelcho" after the Chilean oceanographic ship "Yelcho".
