Caird Nunatak
Caird Nunatak is a prominent nunatak (an outcrop of exposed rock) at 2,750 feet to the north of Cornwall Peaks and the west of Fortuna Glacier on South Georgia.
The nunatak is an important navigational feature on the Shackleton Commemorative Route. Worsley described using 'a huge dome-shaped rock... for a guide'. Named in commemoration of the whaler the James Caird which Shackleton used on his epic voyage from Elephant Island to South Georgia in 1916, and in conjunction with James Nunatak, which is at the beginning of the Shackleton Commemorative Route.
