Upton is an old village now subsumed within the metropolitan conurbation, in the south-west of Essex.
Upton today is an almost wholly residential area indistinguishably placed between West Ham to the west, Upton Park to the south-east and Forest Gate to the north.
The nearest Tube station is Upton Park. Upton's effective southern boundary is the railway line and its western edge is on West Ham Park.
