Upton is a hamlet in southern Hampshire, close by the north-west edge of Southampton and cruelly treated by the M27 motorway, which slices past and which, with the M271 motorway spur constricts the village into a small triangle.

To the west, across the M271, is Grove Place, once a grand country house, now converted into flats.
