Knowle is a village in ther north of Devon, near Braunton, on the A361 road between Ilfracombe and Barnstaple.
Near Knowle is an Iron Age fortification known as Knowle Hill Castle.
Modern history
The size of Knowle expanded considerably in the 1960s with the building of a large number of bunglows which almost doubled the housing stock, and many came in from the Midlands as part of a policy to decant the urban overspill. An estate of about 50 bungalows were built by the local builder James Dennis.
