Dalhousie Castle

Dalhousie Castle is a castle in Midlothian, near the town of Bonnyrigg, eight miles south of Edinburgh. The castle was the seat of the Earls of Dalhousie, the heads of the Ramsay family, and is now a luxury hotel.

The first castle waa built by Simon of Ramsey, an English knight from the Huntingdonshire village of Ramsey, who followed his lord, David Earl of Huntingdon, when the latter inherited the Scottish crown. The Ramseys held it until the twentieth century. (Read more)
