Spinsters' Rock
Spinsters' Rock is a Neolithic dolmen on Dartmoor, near Drewsteignton in Devon. It is to be found on Shilstone Farm, west of the village,[1] near the A382 road.
The dolmen consist of three granite supports rising to between five and a half feet and seven and a half feet surmounted by a capstone measuring fifteen feet by ten feet.[1] The dolmen collapsed in 1862 but was restored in the same year.[1] No finds were recorded.[1]
There are 18th-century antiquarian reports of nearby stone circles and alignments, but these reports are considered to be of "dubious accuracy".[2] There are some free-standing stones located nearby, although only two align with Spinsters' Rock.
