Barrhead

Barrhead is a town in Renfrewshire, eight miles southwest of Glasgow on the edge of the Gleniffer Braes. Today it forms part of the Greater Glasgow conurbation.

Barrhead's origin is as a township within the parish of Neilston, named from the ploughd furrows, or 'barrs', of the fields. The original hamlet lay at the head of barrs,hence its name. (Read more)
